Speaking for clubs & groups

Give your group something to talk about.

Most rooms are full of stories people have never thought to write down. Sharing stories and memories will inspire your group to record theirs. We’ll discuss a topic and format that suit your group.

A talk that starts with the people in the room.

Your members may have years of experience, boxes of photographs or an idea for a book they have never started. We discuss who will be attending and choose a focus that gives them a reason to listen and something useful to take away.

Topics can include beginning a memoir, gathering family stories, developing a writing idea and understanding the journey from manuscript to finished book. We agree on a topic and format with your organiser.

Practical ideas, conversation and room for questions.

We explain how a story can begin with ordinary material and how writing, interviews and photographs can be brought together. The agreed talk can include prompts that help members recognise a starting point of their own.

We discuss how much time to allow for questions and any workshop element you would like. Members who want to continue afterwards can use the free memoir workbook or enquire about personal writing and publishing support.

Make the arrangements clear before the day.

Tell us about your club, community group, organisation or event, along with the location, approximate audience size, preferred date and session length. We discuss availability, fees, travel and any presentation requirements with you.

Whether you want a stand-alone talk or a more practical session, we will agree on what is included and what suits the time available.

Give your next meeting a story worth discussing.

Tell us about your audience and the occasion. We’ll discuss a topic, format and arrangements for your group.
