Novels

Give that unfinished novel its next chapter.

Perhaps you have a character you can’t leave alone, an ending you can see, or a draft that has stopped moving. We work with you on the plot, characters and writing, so you can see what the story needs and get back to it.

Let’s find out what your novel needs.

A new idea needs different help from a complete draft. Tell us about the novel, the readers you imagine and where you have reached. We discuss your premise, characters and any existing chapters, then agree whether the next step is planning, coaching, manuscript development or editing.

You can begin with an outline or a few pages. If the manuscript is complete, tell us its approximate length and the questions you want help answering.

Work on the decisions that make a story move.

We help you examine what your central character wants, what stands in the way and how each scene changes the situation. Together, we look at the order of events, viewpoint, dialogue and pace, using your own writing to make the discussion practical.

Rather than leaving you with general encouragement, we identify what to work on next: a clearer opening, a character’s motivation, a missing scene or chapters that need to be reordered.

Take the draft towards the book you imagined.

You remain the author and make the creative decisions. We offer feedback, talk through alternatives and help you apply the agreed changes. Where you want writing or editing support, we define that work before starting.

Once the manuscript has developed, we can discuss further editing, proofreading, cover creation and formatting. You will know which stage you have reached and what remains before publication.

Bring us the chapter you keep returning to.

Tell us about your novel, how much you have written and the part you want help with. We’ll discuss a useful next stage and what it would involve.
