Book coaching

You’ve started your book. Let’s keep it moving.

Some days the words come easily. Other days you can’t see what belongs in the next chapter—or whether the last one works. Bring those questions to us. We read, discuss and help you decide what to do next, so you can return to your writing with a plan.

Bring the part that is holding you up.

You might need to decide where to begin, untangle a middle section or find a way back after months away from your manuscript. We talk about what you want to write, read the material agreed for the session and focus on the decisions that will help you progress.

Coaching can begin with an idea, an outline or pages already written. We agree on the session format, any reading beforehand, the costs and the support you need.

Leave with something practical to work on.

We discuss your writing in detail and help you turn questions into manageable tasks. That might mean planning a chapter, developing a scene, changing the sequence of events or deciding which memories belong in the book.

Between sessions, you do the writing. At the next agreed meeting, we can look at what you have tried, discuss the result and work out the next step. The pace and amount of support are discussed around your project.

Guidance for memoirs as well as other books.

If you want to write your own life story, coaching can be included in your memoir support. We help you organise memories, use photographs as prompts and develop chapters in your own voice.

You remain the writer. If you later decide you need us to write or edit sections, we can discuss that additional work. Coaching gives you a place to bring the difficult decisions while keeping your book in your hands.

Let’s work out your next chapter.

Tell us what you are writing and where you feel stuck. We’ll discuss a coaching arrangement that gives you useful support at this stage.
